I've been at a small concert last week, on a bar's basement. Had ear plugs but was very closed to the speaker. Since then i have continuous tinnitus, i hear them a lot before going to sleep (now i'ts 2am and i'm here.) I'll have to wait at least 6 month to a year to see an earing specialist here in France. Is there any hope they can do anything about it so long after my exposure?

Dear Doctor, I recently experienced a cold and fever. After three days, I developed severe pain in my ear, which eventually burst, releasing fluid. The doctor cleaned my ear and prescribed Cefuroxime antibiotics. However, I am still experiencing continuous reddish water discharge and a constant Jhi Jhi sound. Could you please advise me on how to solve this issue? Thank you.

Been suffering from a noise in the lower left side of my head and when I press on it with my fingers or turn to the left the noise kind of intensifies but also worth mentioning that my condition is on an on and off basis I could have a day then nothing or hardly feel it the next. I only found out about the TMJ disorders today and when I pressed on my left jaw near the left ear the noise is even more intense. Been to an ENT which sorry to say a complete waste of time. Any ideas ? Suggestions ? What could this be ?

With my first pair of hearing aids, they helped a lot, but I knew they weren't like glasses, so for things I couldn't hear, I thought, "well, there will always be things I'm missing and it is what it is". Now that I know about this and believe my new audiologist does this, I feel excited to get my next pair of HAs because it might help me hear more! (Can't afford them right now though.)

Imagine how much better this tech can be today with the AI developments in the last couple of years! As far as training models we have quite a bit of video of people talking available. The idea of trying. to do all the processing and have the battery capacity crammed into an earpiece or even glasses is just crazy. If only we had a powerful computer available everywhere we go, that had battery capacity to run all day! Like your phone! The earpiece and cameras should not have any processors on them, just batteries and radios to communicate with your phone where all the processing is done. A big advantage is that most modern phones will have powerful AI optimized chips in them already, (far better than you could cram into a earpiece) and all that is needed is an app that can make use of them. As an app it will be easy to update to improve the user experience , and most people get a new phone every few years anyway.

I just picked up my Jabra aids today from Costco. I watched a lot of your videos before I went through the process because I was expecting service to be rushed and less than personal. The person who tested me was great and explained so much, but the guy who fitted me explained nothing and rushed me through a script. Now here I am on UA-cam again with tons of questions. That being said, I simply cannot afford to see someone like you for my condition because the American health care system is bullsh*t. It was either Costco or nothing. I tried the OTC Lexie aids, but they didn’t help enough with speech, so returned them. I had to take out a high interest loan just to get these “affordable” aids, because I am a teacher and cannot do my job without hearing. So, you may not recommend them, but I’m still glad I had the option. I appreciate your insights.

You describe it as "the hearing aid industry." Audiologists need to move away from being the dependent on the hearing aid industry and learn that Audiology is so much broader than fitting hearing aids to people with damaged hearing systems. When the focus is all on a product there is a drive to bring down the cost of clinical services and sell product. As with optometry, this devalues the profession of audiology in the eyes of the public, leads to boring careers where audiologists are no longer health professionals but act with the mentality of salespeople. This leads to unhappiness all around as the quality of care drops to the lowest possible level to maximise profits. Audiologists need to distance themselves from this model by charging for all appointments and unbundling the cost of devices sold from the cost of their services so that clients can see where the value really is which is quality clinical services. They also need to start providing APD services and services to children and working age persons, because these services have the ability to change the course of someone's entire life, but few perform them because they take time away from more financially profitable services. We also need to be providing balance testing and rehabilitation services. If the public perceive us as independent practitioners of healthcare services, they're more likely to value our services and pay for them.

I have Medicare advantage plans for years in 1990 from my old jobs and they changed their name from something else I forgot I was with my grandmother laundry Mart owner boss Medical Insurance of local Medical Insurance Company and I changed jobs later to Medicare advantage plans and got Medicaid and Doctors Insurance Plans since I have been hurt on the jobs Forklift driver and stacker for Groceries Stores Food Storage building Companies business goes to America States to major Groceries stores and department stores to be stocked up. And sometimes my Medicare advantage plans insurance would accept others small town hearing Aides Dealership Center and major T.V. advising Hearing Aides Dealership like Beltone and others popular brands hearing Aides wouldn't accept my medical insurance company and my mom and my grandparents would take over payments for new hearing Aides and I still have to get it repaired every year when I'm sweating and getting wet on the jobs and fishing and camping was costing me money. So I'm glad about Dr.Cliff and teammates reviewed different types of hearing aides and testing them to different brands and I'm glad that my professional Audiologist AuD Hearing Aides Dealership Center and doctors taking care of my hearing and selling great hearing Aides.

Lets give more publicity to Auditory Processing /Disorder APD (or Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) in the USA)

At 80, I'm having enough trouble with dexterity already. This is BAD NEWS! Disposable batteries have another advantage over rechargeable, in that a rechargeable battery only has a limited number of charging cycles, and since they are not replaceable, you will have to replace the AIDS THEMSELVES when they no longer will hold a charge all-day.

2008 went to an Alan Holdsworth concert in a small venue, and it was LOUD. Woke next morning with the ringing that has never gone away. Use ear plugs at concerts. My daughter who took me there had no protection, but I think her younger age made her less susceptible and she had no ill effects, but she did learn to use ear plugs at future concerts because of what happened to me. I can hear it even when I cut the grass against the sound of the lawnmower. The worst thing you can do is pay attention to it; you need to engage and concentrate on other things and soon it fades into the background. But as soon as someone mentions it BANG there it is in full force. The things that make it worse for me are SUGAR, SALT and LACK OF SLEEP.
